How to Clean Acrylic American Mahjong Tiles

Acrylic American tiles are meant to be wiped, not soaked. Snack dust and fingerprint oil dull the engraved faces first. You do not need a special potion. You need a habit after the second wall.

The safe routine

• Dry microfiber after every night. That removes most of the film.
• If a face is sticky, a cloth barely damp with water — then dry immediately.
• A drop of mild dish soap on the cloth, never poured on the pile, for a rare deep clean.

What ruins a set

Do not run tiles through a dishwasher. Do not soak them in a sink. Do not use alcohol, acetone, or abrasive powder on inlaid or painted faces. Do not store them damp in a closed case. Water that sits in the engraving is how colors haze.

Keep chips and salsa off the mat. Grease is harder on acrylic than a long Charleston. If you host often, a mat plus a no-wings rule will outlast any polish.
